Old
Fashioned Tea
& Style
Show
April 5th, 2008
was
held at the Masonic Event Center, Nampa, Idaho. 140 women
enjoyed an elegant tea of delightful sandwiches and scones
served with the traditional Devonshire cream and lemon curd. A
slide show of pictures of area citizens and the Dewey Palace
Hotel ran in the background during the tea.
Wendy Miller, curator of the Canyon
County Historical Society and director of the Nampa Train Depot
Museum, presented a fashion show of clothing from the 1860's to the
1960's. We thought you would enjoy some of the photos from the show.
Photos are available for
purchase. (Press Tribune Photos can be purchased on line)

The dance was a fund raising activity for the Nampa
Train Depot Museum’s red building.
Funds raised at this event will contribute to the enhancement and
expansion of displays and will allow the red
building to remain open to the public year round.

Author
Robb Bolen, “The Boise Bead Trader” signed his new book titled
“Smoke Signals & Wagon Tracks”. Robb’s partial Indian heritage,
study of Archeology and his extensive interest and knowledge in
beads provides a fascinating view on the history of Idaho and the
American Northwest.
Robb will
also be the guest speaker for February's general meeting on February
24th.
Watch for location notice. Bob is receiving great responses to
this book!
Visitors
explored the museum displays. Entrance fees were waived during
the Open House, and guests enjoyed light refreshments.
“Early
Songs of Southern Idaho
and the Emigration Trails”
Eller and Larsen collected and researched hundreds of early
songs and have written a book giving the history of 17 songs. An
enclosed CD includes these songs performed by Eller and Larsen,
along with additional musical colleagues. They performed
the songs at the book signing.
